Your Guide to creating a powerful Vision Board

I used to think a vision board was just a collage of pictures and words, and like any other mood board. But after listening to manifesting experts and reading books on the topic I started to play around in the world of manifesting, to realize it can be so much more. It is a tangible representation of your dreams, goals, and intentions. When done thoughtfully, it becomes a tool that inspires you daily and helps align your actions with your aspirations. To become the version of ourselves that has these things, we need to adopt the habits that our “dream” self practices. Here’s a step-by-step guide to crafting a vision board that will actually help guide you to your goals.

Step 1: Clarify Your Vision

Before you start cutting out pictures or writing anything down, take some time to reflect on what you truly want and what the timeline is. Depending on the person, making 1-year goals is easier than 5-year goals, or vice versa. Once the timeline is chosen for your vision board, ask yourself:

  • What does my ideal life look like in a year? (or whatever timeline you choose)

  • What areas of my life need the most attention (e.g., career, relationships, health, personal growth)?

  • How do I want to feel each day?

Journaling can be incredibly helpful at this stage. Write down your goals and break them into categories to bring clarity to your vision.

Step 2: Gather Your Materials

Now, depending on whether you are visual or not, your vision board just needs to be a reflection of how you want to feel. Your vision board can be visual with a bunch of photos, or it can be bullet points of specific events you want to call into your reality. Here are some things that you may need:

  • A board: This could be a corkboard, poster board, or even a digital platform if you prefer.

  • Magazines, printed images, or Pinterest boards: Look for visuals that resonate with your goals.

  • Scissors, glue, tape, or pins.

  • Markers, stickers, or other decorative items to personalize your board.

Step 3: Find Your Inspiration

Take your time browsing through magazines, websites, or photo collections. Look for images, quotes, and symbols that resonate with your intentions. Don’t just think about what you want to achieve—focus on what inspires you and makes you feel motivated.

For example:

  • If you want to focus on wellness, include images of vibrant foods, fitness activities, or peaceful settings.

  • For financial wellness, you might include symbols of abundance, like a piggy bank, financial milestones, or empowering quotes about money.

  • To prioritize spiritual growth, look for serene images, affirmations, or representations of practices like meditation or yoga.

Journaling about what your “dream day in the life” looks like from morning to night can give you inspiration for what you truly desire.

Step 4: Arrange with Intention

Lay out your images and words on the board before attaching anything. Think about the flow and balance. You might group similar themes together or arrange your goals in a way that feels natural to you. Trust your instincts and let your creativity flow.

Step 5: Assemble Your Board

Once you’re happy with the arrangement, start attaching your items and/or writing your bullet points. As you secure each piece, take a moment to visualize that goal or intention as if it’s already part of your life. This step is all about infusing the board with your energy and belief.

Step 6: Revisit and Revise

As you grow and evolve, your goals may shift. Most likely they will as our priorities tend to change. Make it a habit to revisit your vision board regularly. Celebrate the milestones you’ve achieved and update the board to reflect new dreams and aspirations! (PLEASE celebrate the milestones, the journey is what makes this FUN.)

Tips for Success

  • Feel the Emotion: It’s not just about what you want to achieve but how you want to feel. Choose images and words that evoke those emotions.

  • Stay Positive: Frame your goals in a positive light. Instead of “stop procrastinating,” try “stay focused and productive.”

  • Believe in It: Your belief in your vision board’s power is what makes it work. Trust that what you’re visualizing is already on its way to you.

Creating a vision board is a creative and empowering process. It’s a tool that reminds you to dream big, stay focused, and take aligned action. So, gather your supplies, carve out some intentional time, and start crafting your vision for the life you deserve!

Stay Well,
